Main Functions: The Kitchen Chef is primarily responsible for the preparation and packaging of the meals to go, as well as the presentation of the retail counter for the meals both fresh and frozen. They are also responsible for preparing and maintaining the hot bar throughout its opening hours

Primary Duties:

Department Maintenance

  • Hot Bar: prepare, replenish, and keep clean throughout the day. Removing hot bar and packaging leftover foods at 2 pm
  • Retail side counter: Ensure the shelf is always looking its best- full, fresh, and clean
  • Ensure the earliest-dated produce and meat products are used and processed first, to minimize waste
  • Preparing and packaging catering orders as directed by department manager and ensuring orders are complete by shift end

Leadership / Teamwork

  • Working under the department manager performing tasks such as but not limited to maintenance of freezer and supply stock, fresh and frozen meals preparation and packaging, aiding with smoked meat products

Customer Service / Customer Experience

  • Assisting with servicing customers

General Store Management

  • Keeping kitchen, coolers, freezers and other work areas clean and organized
  • Monitoring inventory for products and ensuring proper rotation
  • Completing any opening and closing checklists as directed by manager

Working Conditions

  • Variable hours as scheduled during retail hours Monday-Saturday 9-6pm
  • Schedule is subject to change
  • Requires long periods of standing

Employment Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is an asset
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
