Kilworth Children’s Centre is looking for a Full-time Early Childhood Educator to join their team. 

The Early Childhood Educator, works under the direction of the Executive Director and Program Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for the planning and delivery of inclusive play-based learning and care programs for children. Candidates are encouraged and responsible for promoting the well-being and holistic development of our children. This position will assess needs, set goals, and formulate plans of action for improvement, and follow up and provide feedback on the child’s progress. This role will also evaluate and assess individual child’s aptitudes and apply teaching practices that facilitate individual comprehension. The Early Childhood Educator must have a degree or diploma in an early childhood education and related experience in a childcare setting.


  • Plan, organize and facilitate the curriculum based on the Ministry of Education’s framework for early learning called “How Does Learning Happen?”
  • Completes required documentation of children’s development and interactions including but not limited to progress reports and program planning
  • Provide supervision of and support to students in daily activities
  • Maintain a healthy physical, emotional and social learning environment for students
  • Ensure guidance of children’s behaviour that encourages positive self-concept
  • Communicate effectively with parents and family members including scheduled written reports and contribute to the on-going operation of the centre
  • Guide and assists students in the development of self-help skills such as eating, dressing and toileting and demonstrating flexibility by being able to work in all classrooms when needed
  • Maintain an environment that supports the health, safety and well-being of the children
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with families, co-workers and community service
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education required.
  • Experience working with children 1 year to 6 years old.
  • Clean vulnerable sector check done within the last 6 months; Valid first aid and CPR certification
    Level C
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Early Learning Program
  • Knowledge of play – based acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management.
  • Experience in planning and implementing developmentally age appropriate programs.
  • Experience in the use of computer technology (e.g. email, internet, word processing etc.).
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion.
  • Be flexible to work varied shifts anywhere between 6:45a.m. – 5:30p.m. Monday – Friday.
