Humana Community Services is hiring Direct Care Workers to join their team. 

Position: Full-Time, Part-Time, and Casual Opportunities Available

Location: London, Strathroy, and Exeter, ON

Schedule: Varied shifts: including evenings, weekends, overnights, and public holidays

Duties

  • Positions involve working in a supported group or independent living settings providing 24/7 support to adults with developmental disabilities
  • Ensure that the individual needs of people are met on a daily basis (medical, personal, physical, financial, hygienic, social, recreational, emotional, developmental), and provide the best quality of life while in compliance with legislated requirements and company policies and procedures
  • Support community engagement and recreational goals
  • Provide a wide range of physical/personal care utilizing specialized equipment
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with participants of varying communication skills and ensure their needs and desires are being addressed

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human, Health, Community, and/or Social Services (e.g., DSW, PSW, SSW)
  • Minimum six (6) months of related experience supporting people with developmental disabilities is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of support requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job
  • Proficiency in both verbal and written communication
  • Strong mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail while multi-tasking
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the team, and independently as necessary
  • Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional, and personal boundaries
  • Multilingualism and having diverse lived experiences are considered assets
  • Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record (mandatory)
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check with Humana listed as the employer (mandatory)
  • Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunizations, COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position (mandatory)
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR (mandatory) *Level C with AED training preferred

Compensation: Starting wage $20.84
