The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) is looking to add to their team, six Conservation Area Lifeguards or Assistant Lifeguards. Duties 

• Ensure the public is observing safe swimming practices in the pool and on the pool deck
• Inform the public of water safety practices
• Perform rescues and administer first aid/CPR as required
• Prior to opening the pool, ensure all required safety equipment is in place as per regulations
• Perform day-to-day pool operations including water testing, general housekeeping and custodial duties, and monitoring of filtration and chemical systems
• Ensure proper record keeping in accordance with local and provincial regulations
• Address customer concerns and complaints
• Assist the general public by providing information on policies, regulations, facilities, and general information
• May eject individuals endangering themselves or other swimmers from the pool area and document occurrences
• Open and close facilities as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certification (Lifeguard)
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (Lifeguard and Assistant)
• Valid Bronze Cross or Award of Distinction (Assistant Lifeguard)
• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
• Must have the ability to work alone

Work Environment/Conditions

• Work duties take place outdoors in varying weather conditions

Additional Requirements:

SCRCA has established a Vaccination Policy for staff in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, should you be the successful candidate for the position, you will receive a conditional offer of employment contingent on your providing us with proof of full vaccination. If you are seeking an exemption from vaccination due to the application of the Ontario Human Rights Code, you will be required to provide satisfactory evidence of the reason for such an exemption upon receipt of the conditional offer.

Salary: $18.50 per hour (Lifeguard), $17.00 per hour (Assistant)

Hours: 40 hours per week
