Building Dreams

November 26, 2019 – Michele Sands, Business Advisor/Job Developer had the pleasure of attending the 3rd Annual Build a Dream Career Expo held in London on November 26th at the Metroland Media Agriplex. The now annual event inspires young women to learn more about careers in the skilled trades, engineering, technology, emergency services and entrepreneurship. The evening was a chance to hear from successful women, take part in interactive activities and have fun with the photo booth.

Dashwood Hiring Continues

November 8, 2019 – Friday November 8th was a busy day as Community Employment Choices hosted a job fair for Dashwood Industries in their quest to further fill labour positions in their new facility. As announced in June 2019, Dashwood Industries is making a move after 90+ years in the Centralia area to the newly renovated former Wescast plant in Adelaide Metcalfe. Bring the World to Medway

October 17, 2019 – Medway High School located in Arva, was a hub of activity on Thursday October 17th as it hosted “Bring the World to Medway”. Started in 2018, this event is a day where special guests present to students on topics such as how they got started and rose in their careers, as well as how different area businesses and organizations work. Norm Wiseman, Employment Advisor at Community Employment Choices (CEC), was pleased to attend as one of the presenters to the eager group of students and talk about the services and assistance that CEC can offer to job seekers in the County of Middlesex including youth programming and career planning.

Norm and CEC would like to thank Medway High School for the opportunity to present to students and play a part in their decision making process as they move forward with building on their stories of tomorrow.

21st Annual Business Excellence Awards

Thursday October 24, 2019 – Strathroy’s Portuguese Canadian Club was the place to be Thursday October 24th for the Strathroy & District Chamber of Commerce 21st Annual Business Excellence Awards”. The annual evening of dinner and awards is a chance to recognize Chamber members who have made a difference in their community through their leadership and advocacy. Michele Sands, Business Advisor/Job Developer at Community Employment Choices was pleased to attend this evening on behalf of CEC and participate in honouring all of the business and organizations who have made contributions to our community. Congratulations to all the winners!

CEC Staff Participate in Middlesex County Library’s first Neighbourhood Days

October 25, 2019 – Community Employment Choices would like to thank the Middlesex County Library for the opportunity to participate in its first Neighbourhood Days held during Ontario Public Library Week (October 21 through to the 25th, 2019). This was an opportunity to discuss CEC’s services with library patron’s at the Comprehensive Branches, along with other area partner agencies, and bring to light the variety of information and programs that are offered throughout the County.

As a reminder, Employment Advisors from Community Employment Choices meet on a weekly basis with clients at the Dorchester, Glencoe, Parkhill and Lucan libraries as well as provide information to the Strathroy Library’s Service Canada outreach. Employer RoundTable Discussions

Thursday, October 10, 2019 – Community Employment Choices was pleased to host, in partnership with Invest in Middlesex and the Middlesex Workforce Development Partnership , an Employer Roundtable Forum 2nd edition. Under the excellent guidance of facilitator Eric Sloat, President of Knowledgeshare, the dynamic group of Middlesex County employers participated in effective group sharing and roundtable conversation with a goal of further identifying current issues related to worker recruitment and retention in Middlesex County. A variety of issues and challenges were addressed followed with recommendations and discussion around how to implement change. It was a morning of good food, good conversation and notes in preparation for future dialogue. Community Employment Choices would like to thank everyone who participated and look forward to hosting again in the future.

Wow! Wasn’t That a Breakfast!

Thursday October 3, 2019 – Amy’s Restaurant, Strathroy ON, was the place to be October 3rd as they hosted the 2019 Libro Credit Union Ltd. Busting Out All Day Breakfast and 105.7 myFM Radiothon in support of the Breast Assessment Program at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Pictured below are some of CEC’s staff members about to enjoy a fabulous breakfast and catch up with different members of the community. Who doesn’t love great food and a great cause, right!?
